Christian Ifversen has a mission: to give us back our bodies! Spending two thirds of his life practicing martial arts Christian Ifversen brings more than 25 years of embodied knowledge on balance, movement and body mechanics. He has fought and taught a wide variety of martial arts, but has spent the past 12 year intensely studying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and the grappling arts. Christian firmly believes that to reach our full potential as humans we must overcome the distinction between mind and body in our practices, and strive to see ourselves as an integrated organism that experience and interact with the world as a body-mind. He holds that everything from dire conflict to passionate love is mediated through our bodies, and our most powerful and intimate verbs and metaphors are all describing things we do with our bodies. Hence Christian aspires to help and inspire people to reintegrate their bodies in a world that is turning more and more cerebral.
After obtaining an MA in philosophy and economics, he has had long career in education and consulting startups, and when not teaching, fighting, or playing on the mats, he works as a mentor in Copenhagen, Denmark. He also travels the world devotedly teaching Jiu Jitsu and spreading the gospel of body awareness. Most recently he co-founded The Philosophical Fight Club, a workshop that integrates martial arts and philosophy providing a novel and practical approach to personal freedom.
